Sometimes even with the best of intentions we can do something wrong. While this is true of basically any subject in life, here at DiBella Chiropractic  we really only deal with the physical aspects of things. What I’m talking about is hurting yourself while trying to be healthy. If you’ve ever gone running or working on strength training only to find that you have a sore back afterwards, you know exactly what I mean. You are trying to keep your body in good shape and form and all of a sudden you feel betrayed. I mean, you’re trying to help your body and this is how it repays you? Well luckily there are some things that you can do.

When you have a hurt back, you don’t want to do anything. Sometimes that is exactly what needs to happen. At times, depending on the injury, you may just need a day or two to recover. Lying in bed and watching television may be just what the doctor ordered. Just make sure that a habit of this doesn’t develop, otherwise you will be right back where you started.

Another thing that you may want to do is take a nice warm shower or bath. This can help to loosen up your muscles in your back that may have tightened in order to protect the injury. Stay in there for a while with the hot water hitting the affected area and see if this helps. If water isn’t an option, or if you are just tired of taking showers, you can try a heating pad to simulate this feeling. You may even want a heated massager, but be careful with those as they can sometimes further damage an injury depending upon what it is.
