For every doctor, the main concern should always be the safety and health of their patients. Chiropractors are no different in this respect. After all, chiropractors are doctors just the same as anyone else who went through medical school. While many chiropractors gush about how safe the care is, some people are still uncertain about the facts. Thankfully, there have been multiple studies done about the low risk that chiropractic care provides to those who are treated through it. These studies run from individual practices to the National Institute of Health and the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine. This is one of the studies that we will be talking about for this article.

The older we get, the more concerned we need to be about our continued health. While it may be simple for younger people to bounce back from injuries, this becomes less likely the older we are. If you have ever seen a teenager heal from a broken leg versus and older family member deal with a similar injury, you know exactly what I am talking about. This is why there was a study done recently regarding people who are at least sixty six years old who go into chiropractic care versus those who have general medical care done by their primary doctors.

The point of this study was to see if there was any major difference in how the elderly body reacts to medical care as opposed to chiropractic care. The results were dramatic in just about every way they could have been. It was shown that seniors who received chiropractic care as opposed to care from their primary doctors saw a seventy six percent difference in post treatment injury. The study focused on the first seven days after treatment and showed that seniors were much less likely to suffer another injury if they had undergone chiropractic care. If that isn’t a good sign about safety, I’m not sure what is.

We are all concerned about the safety and health of our elderly family members and friends, so there is no reason why doctor care should be any different. The truth is that not all treatments or doctors are created equal, so research is your best tool. Thankfully, we now have research that backs up the safety of chiropractic care for people of all ages.
